Tepid response to SECI's 2GW wind auction
12 July 2018

Power evacuation concerns have been blamed for the failure of the Solar Energy Corporation of India to attract sufficient interest in its 2GW wind auction. ReNew Power, Adani, Sprng Energy and Alfanar submitted bids for less than 300MW each. This is the first time a SECI wind tender has been unable to allocate the offered capacity.  Upcoming auctions for 2.5GW of wind capacity and 2.5GW of wind-solar hybrid capacity have been postponed until July 16 to allow power evacuation issues to be discussed with Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL).
