    A more nuanced and evolved consideration of ECA support is a global one. For example, in the 1980s, the primary users of US Ex-Im support were Japanese trading companies. To this day, Siemens and Spanish solar and wind energy companies use US Ex-Im to finance their exports from subsidiaries located in the US.
