Nigeria awards $6.6bn Lagos-Kano rail project contract

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has been awarded a $6.68 billion contract for a major segment of the Lagos-Kano rail line in Nigeria. The subsidiary of the Chinese state rail builder CRCC is already carrying out a $1.6 billion contract for the construction of the Kano to Kaduna section of the project. China Exim bank approved a $1.231 billion loan in April for network modernisation.
