Africa 2023: Export & Natural Resources Finance

The Westin Cape Town
Oct 24 - Oct 25, 2023
The Westin Cape Town, South Africa

Our three brands joined forces to champion Africa! With aspects from TXF's export & commodity financeProximo's project finance and Uxolo's development finance, this in-person spectacular had something for everyone and maximized networking at every possible turn.

Exile Group is the parent company of TXF, Proximo & Uxolo. Given the synergies in the markets the three brands serve, Exile will continue to co-locate several of its physical events. Attendees optimise their trip, meeting more prospective business partners, diversifying their portfolio and learning about a broader range of industry trends.

Delegates found this an unmatched opportunity to end the year on a high and start 2024 with new connections and crucial business intelligence insights to get ahead of the competition. Without anything quite like it in the market right now, this unique event brought the best of all things export, project, commodities & development finance.

While each of the asset classes converged, there was a sharp focus on each department dedicating time to delve into the top challenges and themes. We covered all of the latest trends in the industry without a stone unturned. Here are some of the key themes:

  • The role of ECAs and DFIs in plugging Africa's infrastructure gap

  • ‘Just’ Transition: Ensuring equitable and sustainable energy transition in Africa whilst preserving the value of the continent's resources.

  • Energy Transmission: Addressing poor energy transmission infrastructure in South Africa and beyond.

  • Healthcare and Social Infrastructure: Investing in vital healthcare and social infrastructure.

  • Renewable development across the continent: Scaling up renewable energy efforts with relevant agencies' involvement.

  • Role of Local African Institutions: Harnessing local knowledge for successful project implementation.

  • Financing Transportation Infrastructure: Meeting government financing needs for transportation projects.

  • Challenges Faced by Eskom: Analyzing issues with South Africa's energy utility, Eskom.

  • Addressing food security challenges faced by commodity traders and the crucial role of DFIs in supporting solutions.

  • The role of private capital in African projects and how to create more bankable projects in the continent

  • De-risking workshop – this interactive session brought financiers together to talk about how they can de-risk projects.
