New Indian solar tariff cheaper than coal

The Bhadla solar phase four auction for 50MW and 100MW packages saw the winning bids all record new lows. Phelan Energy and Avaada Power quoted Rs2.62 per unit while Softbank Cleantech won 100MW for one paisa more. Average price on NTPC's coal-fired plants is around Rs3.20.
